About Us

Birds in the Bush Nursery germinated from an idea of Robert Hall and Nina Bird to do something practical and environmental with their land in Balliang, Victoria. Located at the base of the Brisbane Ranges. The nursery is built around their home and makes for a practical and philosophically agreeable employment choice.

 

Robert and Nina were motivated to start an indigenous plant nursery following their significant and ongoing involvement in Landcare and the NRM industry. Robert and Nina also recognise how revegetation can sequester carbon and acknowledge the extent of landscape change since colonisation. Robert has a strong understanding of the industry from working in the pest plant and animal control and revegetation field for the past ten years.  Both are active participants in their local Landcare group and Robert is the current President.
