Planning
Designing your small planting or larger revegetation project takes some thought and planning.
Knowing what species to plant and where can be tricky.
There is a lot of in-depth knowledge of individual species preferences
needed, for example:
-
Does the species do better with some extra moisture?
-
Is the species capable of managing drier conditions so suitable for your exposed northern slopes?
-
Is your species best planted amongst the rocks?
-
Is the species better suited to sedimentary soils?
-
Are there complementary species that your species is best planted with?
-
What colour, size and layout is aligned to your aesthetic objectives?
-
Which species are aligned to your habitat and biodiversity objectives?
You need to think about your planting site with all these things in mind.
Need help? Talk to us here at Birds in the Bush Nursery and we will help you. Basic advice will be given free but if you have a more complicated site or requirement, there may be a small consulting fee. We will let you know about this well in advance. Avoid making a guess and ending up positioning plants where they do not do well or even die because they are not suited to the conditions.
The species pages here will assist you in the planning for your planting project. The list of plants is those that we are currently growing. Not on this list, then talk to us!
